Review The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Two-Disc Special Edition)

The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Two-Disc Special Edition) Best Review

Looking at the special features, the one thing that is missing, and one of the things I loved about the Twilight DVD, is the audio commentary from Pattinson and Stewart. (Lautner should be in there too for New Moon.) Instead all they have listed is the director and editor's commentary. Boo. The Twilight commentary with director and actors was informative AND really funny. Get those actor's well compensated backsides in a chair, and put a mic in their faces for 2 hours, and make the two disc special edition worth the extra cash!

The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Two-Disc Special Edition) Overview

In the second chapter of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling Twilight series, the romance between mortal Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) grows more intense as ancient secrets threaten to destroy them. When Edward leaves in an effort to keep Bella safe, she tests fate in increasingly reckless ways in order to glimpse her love once more. But when she’s saved from the brink by her friend, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), Bella will uncover mysteries of the supernatural world that will put her in more peril than ever before.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Two-Disc Special Edition) Specifications

New Moon, the second in Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster teen-fiction saga adapted for film, is stronger than its predecessor, Twilight. Director Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass), taking the helm from Catherine Hardwicke, brings a lighter, more assured touch to the sequel, which continues the star-crossed love story of mortal Bella (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson). Incidentally, Edward is absent for most of the film; after an accident on Bella's birthday reminds Edward that her life is always at risk when he's around, he chooses to abandon her, sending her into a deep depression. The only person who helps her heal her broken heart is her friend Jacob (Taylor Lautner), a member of the Quileute tribe who, as he grows taller, beefier, and more aggressive (with less clothing), comes to realize he's not entirely human either. But even his love for Bella doesn't prevent her from throwing herself in the path of danger, because that's the only time she can see visions of Edward. One such fateful misunderstanding sends Edward into the coven of the Volturi (a sort of vampire Mafia, if you will), where the most dangerous vampires hold both Edward and Bella's fate in their cold, dark hands. Much of New Moon rests on the shoulders of Lautner, so scrawny in Twilight, who famously packed on the muscle to avoid getting recast. He's very nearly successful in carrying the load, but the cheese-tastic beefcake scenes disservice him, and Jacob and Bella's complicated friendship stumbles on its way to any kind of love triangle. Some of that blame lies with Stewart, who understandably holds her emotions close to her chest but reveals much too little (c'mon, even an angsty girl has to be a little joyful in the arms of two different hunks). As is with the book, the film is just a bridge between sagas, so the plot drags and not a lot happens. Fortunately, while Twilight was trapped in its own self-consciousness, the wobbly-legged cast seems to have found stronger footing in New Moon; the jokes come faster, the writing (by Melissa Rosenberg, who also scribed Twilight) is a hair wittier. (Even Pattinson seems more comfortable in Edward's skin.) The Volturi, highlighted by Michael Sheen's Aro and Dakota Fanning's Jane, also make an all-too-brief impression, but at least there's more to look forward to when Eclipse, the third installment, is released. --Ellen A. I liked it but I had really low expectations - A. Rodriguez -
Ok I love the Twilight saga I am a huge fan, I loved twilight I thought it was awesome though there were a few things I didnt like about it but its a movie I wasnt surprised. New moon ok I knew Edward wasnt going to be in it so I already knew it was going to be hard to watch ok so lets get to the good parts: the beginning was so good I really enjoyed that and I would have to say I'm pleasantly surprised to see that they kept it fairly close to the book, you can see how much they love each other, the special effects were pretty cool: now the bad parts ok so i like Kristen I think shes a good actress and on twilight I think she did great but really what was she thinking? She didnt look depressed at all I was getting bored watching her she looked just like she was bored most of the time when she was supposed to be heart broken. And ok I personally LOVE the scene in which he explains everything to her after she wakes up thats my favorite part of the book and it was butchered he did a half an explaination when she saved him and then continued when she woke up come on am I the only one who knows that the entire time until the bedroom scene she thinks that the only reason he wants to die is for guilt and that he doesnt love her the same way she loved him thats why she was so hesitant and careful not to kiss him or be too affectionate because she thought he was going to leave when he realized she was still alive and she knew it would just be worse if she got her hopes up, ok I can talk about that scene all day moving on, the volturi now question: did they forget Edward could read minds? Because thats what it seemed like to me. He would've seen them trying to get him and would've been able to escape now if it was I dont know like 10 of them maybe not but 1 come on why are you going to insult my man like that and what about Alice you know its the same with her she would have had a vision and would've known and would've been able to escape from that one guy too so that scene was ridiculous. If your a Jacob fan you'd probably like this movie he is in it alot obviously and he is constantly shirtless or if you have really really low expectations like I did it would surprise you that it turned out better than you expected. I knew to have low expectations because the director directed the golden compass and butchered that book so I knew better than to have high expectations

I have read the Twilight book series more than 20 times. I fall into the over 40 age group that are fans of the series. I agree with previous Twilight movie reviews that so much was cut from the story it was a joke, but the director had a very limited budget a short filming schedule and Summit determined the quality of the script. For what she had to work with it was good. It was a huge success and that is what allowed New Moon to be made.

Now let's talk New Moon. The number of film mistakes made in this movie reflect the quality of a 1st year film student. Sloppy is the only word. Continuity is everything when shooting a movie. This movie is a mess. In the meadow scene where Bella and Edward are looking into each others eyes, it looks like a silk flower explosion not to mention that BELLA'S FOOT IS MISSING. Some idiot placed a backdrop over her leg and neither the director, editor nor continunity officer noticed.

How about the scene where Jacob comes into Bella's bedroom. Bella goes to bed wearing a light yellow top and wakes up wearing a dark green top. (movie magic) At last count there are over 60 of these sloppy mistakes in New Moon. There is one scene where Bella's hair part moves 6x's. Or how about the scene in the truck with Bella and Jacob going to test the motorbikes. Look at the trees going past the windows. Half the scene indicates the truck should be going in reverse.

As listed in previous reviews the makeup, hair and costumes were bad. All the vampires looked like they had aged 10 years since the last film but the humans had stayed the same. The costumes in Twilight were age appropriate. This time around Alice looks fat, dumpy and like she is having a bad hair day all the time. Jasper talks like he is wearing dentures and his hair is so bad I can not even talk about it. The wig used on Rosalie looked just like a wig.

New Moon added fight scenes that did not exist in the book and once again the script gutted the story. No wonder Stephenie has distanced herself from New Moon and the up coming Eclipse. million for the first movie 0 million for the second. First movie was more bang for the buck.

Still this movie is better than nothing......but just.
