FBI TV Show, the American television series sponsored by Ford Motor Company, was the fourth series from Quinn Martin Productions and was aired in ABC on Sundays at 8 PM. This fourth serial followed the most acclaimed three TV shows named Twelve O'Clock High, The Fugitive and The New Breed. This was the long running serial from Quinn Martin Productions. It was a breathtaking Drama of about 60 minutes each episode. The serial premiere show was on September 19, 1965 and continued until the last episode September 8, 1974.
The drama was unique in the sense that it was absolutely supervised by J. Edgar Hoover, the FBI Director. This was based in part on the renowned theatrical film by Warner Brothers in 1959, titled as FBI story. The stories were the narrations of actual FBI cases, with an authentic telling in a fiction's backdrop. The lead roles are with fictitious names. The character Inspector Lewis Erskine was played by the great artist Efren Zimbalist Jr. He with his excellent action packed moves and dramatic appearance made the whole serial a highly attractive and eventually the serial became a great crowd puller. Philip Abbott played the role of Assistant Director to Edgar Hoover. In the first two seasons the story has a blend of romance with Lynn Loring as the Daughter of Inspector and Jim Rhodes as a special FBI agent.
FBI TV show was a grand success, especially with the episodes titled "Most wanted" with Zimbalist playing as the host. A nice remake of this show in FOX network by Imagine Entertainment by Ron Howards is already on.
